Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Cats and Couches

by dave001

I am looking to buy a new sofa/love seat and am curious how Munchkin and Precious will react.
Precious is de-clawed but Munchkin is not and will not be as long as I have him.
Munchkin does scratch things, but not a great deal. My current couches are covered with blankets - and I don't see him scratching them.
I'd expect to be getting new cats in the future, so am trying to figure out what couch fabric is best for cats that might scratch.
I think leather is out of my price range. I'm thinking of what I can only think might be called "traditional" fabric, and then micro fiber

Price of Munchkin Cats in India..?

I wanna know if I can find a Munchkin Cat in Chennai.
And if yes I wanna know it's price.

Just Google TICA breeders Munchkin and where you live. I doubt it as that's a new breed with few breeders and only TICA that recognizes it. If you do find a breeder you're looking at a MINIMUM of a $1,000 for a kitten - more if they're the only breeder in the country.

Why you want to condone the breeding of dwarfism in cats? Are you not aware of all the horrible backyard breeders now trying to do this and ending up with horribly deformed cats that either end up euthanized or dumped at a shelter? I've seen some of them at the one I volunteer at. It's not pretty.

Munchkin cats, any info?

My biggest question, and the one that voids all of the others, is: Are munchkin cats in the same ball park as teacup whatever dogs? I've done some research, not at all extensive, but it seems to be nothing more than a simple mutation likened to people having green eyes or what made weanertype dogs the way they are.

And then: Where could I get one? I would have no issue trying shelters, but I am more than possitive that not one person in this area knows that cats have breeds beyong fluffy and standard.

And last but so far from least: How expensive? By the time…

I use to show cats for six years and talked to many Munchkin breeders at these shows.

The Munchkin is said to be the Daschund of the cat world. It has **nothing** to do with a diminutive/teacup-sized cat. Munchkins are an average size to large cat, with short legs. The biggest difference is that the Munchkin cat has none of the physical back problems associated with long-backed dogs. That's because cats in general are more limber then dogs.

You're right, the Munchkin breed came about as a natural mutation, just as Scottish Folds, and American Curls came…
