About Our Rescue Group:

Furry Friends of Indiana rescues orphaned kittens who have lost their mother cat and are too young to survive on their own without human intervention. We bottle-feed and raise the kittens until they are 10 weeks old and place them for adoption in their forever homes.

Looking for a new family member? Bottle-fed, hand-raised kittens make the best cats you will ever own. They are highly intelligent, people-oriented, and a real part of the family. When raised properly, these kittens grow up to be great cats with less behavioral issues than kittens taken from the mom and/or littermates too soon who are not properly socialized.

Another passion of ours is trapping, spaying or neutering, and returning (TRN) feral cats to the communities that they inhabit. Most people are surprised to learn that feral cats actually serve an important purpose to their community by keeping vermin and pest populations under control. However, cats cannot survive on hunting alone and are much more effective hunters when they are fed on a consistent basis.

By TNRing a feral cat to it's community, their population can be kept under control while preventing other cats (likely not spayed/neutered) to move in on the territory. Removing them from the area just allows a whole new colony of cats to move in, starting the cycle again.

Furry Friends can always use help with KMR kitten formula, grain-free dry kitten food, cat litter (scoopable and clay), kitten bottles, and towels/blankets. We also need pillows, fabric, and cages of all sizes (from hamster cage to huge). If you'd like to adopt a kitten, please send us a message with your name, basics about your family and living situation, as well as what you are looking for. We have many animal-loving friends and rescue friends who will be more than happy to help you find your PURRFECT new family member or we can help you re-home your furry family member when circumstances prevent you from keeping them.

If you have orphaned kittens, please call 260-610-5171. The sooner we receive the orphans, the greater their chance of survival. We are unable to give any medical advice. If you have an animal that is sick or injured, you need to contact a veterinarian. I can provide you with names and numbers of local vets that I recommend, but am unable to take any kittens that have immediate and costly medical needs. Shanna has been rescuing animals since she was very young, and was always trying to bring home strays. God has blessed her with the ability to bottle-fed kittens who have lost their mother cat. Her husband and kids help with the kittens, making it a family-run rescue. In the past, we have taken in adult cats, but are no longer able to do so.

Our Adoption Process:

"History
Munchkin is a naturally occurring, domestic cat breed characterized by unusually short legs. These short-legged cats have been documented in 1930s in England. But World War II took its toll on the cat and threatened the extinction of this species. These cats were rediscovered in Europe in 1980s. Breeders undertook measures to conserve this breed and since then this breed has flourished. Recently it has been accepted as breed by TICA. "
